Job Summary
Provides administrative support to the chair, department and CAO. Provide administrative support on actions pertaining to academic personnel matters in the Departments of Environmental Toxicology;
Land, Air and Water Resources; and Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology, Academic Human Resources Unit. This position prepares academic actions including appointments, merits, promotions, appraisals, recruitment, changes in status, and salary administration; tracks eligibility of academic titles for merits, promotions and appraisals and compiles/prepares dossiers. This position provides administrative support for the recruitment process for academic personnel and coordinates administrative functions and reporting for Agricultural Experiment Station projects and outside professional activities reporting and coordinates summer session appointments.
As requested, this position assists the CAO, department chairs, and unit directors with special projects. Provide back-up assistance within the unit as needed

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications

- Experience working with academic and staff personnel policies and procedures and bargaining agreements, recruitment of faculty and faculty advancement.
- Experience with recruitment and working with personnel, accounting, and travel policies and procedures in an academic or similar environment.
Leadership and decision making experience to lead meetings, focus on key issues, research, gather and integrate information, formulate recommendations, and develop approaches to evaluate and address business needs, including training and mentoring staff. - Experience using writing, editing, proofreading skills with usage of appropriate grammar to provide clear, concise, and effective communication documents and experience using interpersonal and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse population, and to research, secure and provide information to clarify situations and resolve problems.
- Experience analyzing complex information or problems in an objective manner and derive logical conclusions to provide a sound basis for establishing priorities, selecting courses of action, and resolving conflicts.
- Experience performing administrative support functions in an executive-level office environment, including using computer applications that support these functions.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures to read, interpret and apply administrative, business, financial policies and procedures to functions and activities related to purchasing, travel, and entertainment.
- Organizational and time management skills to work with changing priorities and demanding workload and to use independent judgment to make logical decisions and ability to move between the different departmental locations for coverage or as needed
- Critical thinking and problem-solving experience to analyze data and develop meaningful solutions to specic problems.
- Experience working in UC Davis automated personnel, teaching, research and financial systems.
- Knowledge of automated financial, personnel, and teaching systems (AE, Recruit, OATS, Banner, People Admin, MIV, REEport).
- Knowledge of Federal/State policies and procedures governing the submission and maintenance of Agricultural Experiment Station Projects.
- Knowledge of University Policies and Procedures.

This position provides the day-to-day administrative support to the cluster executive team and Academic HR Unit. Provides coordination and delivery of academic personnel services in the Departments and administrative support for instructional and research activities in the Departments, which encompass a wide diversity of academic and staff positions including:
Academic Senate and federation personnel, Unit 18 lecturers and SOE appointments, International scholars, post-doctorates, graduate and undergraduate employees and staff.
This position provides support for academic personnel actions in the cluster and executive support to the Metro Cluster's Department Chairs, Vice Chairs and CAO.
