Job Summary
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), provide operational support to the Director and the CAO for the Center for Neuroscience (CNS). Supervise the CNS student Team and manage CNS business office needs. Under general direction of the CAO, responsible for coordinating all CNS personnel and employment activities and informs faculty, supervisors and staff on human resources and employment policies and procedures.
This position prepares academic actions including appointments, merits, promotions, appraisals, recruitment, for CNS Academic Federation titles. This position provides administrative support for the recruitment process for academic personnel, career staff and student assistant positions. The position works 100% live onsite with a flexible schedule to accommodate CNS events.

Minimum Qualifications

- No Minimum Education Required.
- Minimum 3-5 years operational/administrative support. Experience in recruitment and employment policies, procedures, and laws, and skills to to be an effective resource to hiring managers.
- Organizational and time management skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize and organize workload, meet deadlines and perform assigned duties with minimal supervision.
- Skills to problem solve, review, research and analyze within each of the functional areas.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to work as part of a team with a wide variety of faculty, staff, and external sponsors.
- Skills and ability to follow projects to completion, keeping appropriate personnel advised of project status, due dates, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent training/experience in a related field
- Five years' experience working in a highly-confidential environment including maintaining confidentiality of Executive Office and Human Resources activities and records. Experience with Aggie Enterprise, Aggie Expense, Aggie Travel, UCPath, AUSS-C.
- Familiarity with University policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of academic and staff personnel policies including collective bargaining unit agreements.
- Skills to function independently and creatively to research, analyze and coordinate a variety of administrative projects with general guidance and review by supervisory personnel.

The Center for Neuroscience conducts research in the areas of molecular, cellular, systems, cognitive, and computational neuroscience and trains graduate and undergraduate students in neuroscience and related fields. The Center consists of a faculty director, approximately 25 faculty and 100 laboratory academic and staff positions that are housed at the Center, approximately 55 affiliated faculty from across the Davis and Sacramento campuses, a chief administrative officer, and approximately 8 administrative staff.
The Center involves faculty and other scientists from the College of Biological Sciences, School of Medicine, College of Letter and Science and the School of Veterinary Medicine. The Center's annual expenditures exceed $1 million. Total funding (including multi-year research grants) is approximately $95M. The Center is located in 35,000 sq. ft. in 4 separate buildings. Facilities include faculty research laboratories, a small mammal vivarium, a non-human primate vivarium, and neuroimaging and MRI facilities.
