Position: Community Education Specialist 3 - Davis, CA, Job ID 85204

Position Summary

The incumbent assists the academic program team with the development and pilot testing of nutrition education materials for youth and families. This role plans and coordinates pilot testing of educational materials with clientele, including travel as needed, and supports the dissemination of finalized materials through training and other outreach efforts. The incumbent also assists with video production involving participating clientele and coordinates the translation of materials into Spanish following final review and approval of edits and revisions.

In addition, the position makes adjustments to educational materials based on feedback from clientele and partnering agencies and coordinates the collection of data from surveys and other evaluation tools. The incumbent collaborates regularly with Extension professionals to develop, monitor, and review educational materials, and assists 4‑H professionals with project deliverables and timelines to ensure activities remain within the established scope of work.

Key Responsibilities
  • 20% Assist academic program team with development and pilot testing of nutrition education materials for youth and families. Plans and develop new programs and curriculum and adjust existing resources in a continuing education environment.
  • 10% Plan and coordinate pilot testing educational materials with clientele, including travel.
  • 10% Support the dissemination of educational materials to clientele and conduct relevant training, as needed.
  • 5% Support video production with participating clientele.
  • 5% Coordinate material translation into Spanish upon final review of edits and revisions.
  • 10% Make adjustments to developed materials based on feedback from clientele and partnering agency.
  • 10% Coordinate collection of data from surveys and other evaluation tools.
  • 20% Collaborate with Extension professionals weekly to develop, monitor and review educational materials.
  • 10% Assist 4‑H professionals with project deliverables and timelines within scope of work.
Requirements
  • Associate degree in related areas and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Thorough analytical skills to conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating organization and problem‑solving skills.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in business software systems (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).
  • Bilingual communication/translation abilities in English and Spanish.
  • Thorough knowledge of and skill in delivering program.
Preferred Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area.
  • Knowledge of current community educational programs and trends.
  • Skills to conduct needs assessment and development of new presentations/courses to meet organizational needs.
Special Conditions of Employment
  • Must comply with regulatory agency reporting requirements (California's Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act).
  • Authority for committing the financial resources of the University through contracts or agreements.

  • Direct responsibility for the care, safety, and security of people, including children and minors, or property.
  • Must possess valid California Driver's License to drive a County or University vehicle. Ability to travel on a flexible schedule as needed, proof of liability damage insurance on vehicle used is required; reimbursement of job-related travel will be reimbursed according to University policies.
