Position Overview
The Department of Comparative Literature and the Program in Middle East/South Asia Studies at the University of California Davis invite applications for the newly established Bita Daryabari Endowment Postdoctoral Scholar/Lecturer position in Persian language and literature.
Salary range: $69,073 to $82,836 based on experience level.
This is a full-time, 100% appointment for a two-year term, with an annual salary of $69,073 and a comprehensive benefits package through UC Davis, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, short-term disability, and voluntary long-term disability coverage.
The appointment is anticipated to start in the winter quarter 2027; a spring quarter 2027 start may be necessary if additional processing time is required.

The fellow will pursue their own research, teach one class related to Persian language and/or literature per year, and organize a conference in an area related to their research in the second year of the fellowship.
The fellow is expected to be in residence for the full term of the fellowship and participate in the activities of the Comparative Literature Department and the Middle East and South Asia Studies program.
Qualifications- Hold or recently earned a PhD in a field within the humanities or humanistic social sciences.
- Eligibility contingent upon Persian serving as a primary research language.
- Scholarship focusing on the Persianate world.
- Well-developed research program and expected to teach an undergraduate seminar in Persian language and literature.
