Job Summary
Under general supervision of the Associate Vice Provost for Student Success (AVP-SS), provides leadership, administration, operational management, and supervision for the Teaching and Learning Complex (TLC) - Testing Center. The Testing Center Manager directs the planning, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement of testing center services, programs, policies, and procedures to support high-quality, secure, and accessible assessment experiences. The position collaborates extensively with faculty, academic departments, undergraduate colleges (CAES, CBS, COE, and L&S), and campus leadership to support instructional needs, student success, and effective assessment practices.
The Testing Center Manager serves as the primary liaison with Accommodated Exam Services within the Student Disability Center and other campus partners to ensure coordinated, compliant, and student-centered testing services. Responsible for the overall administration of testing center operations, including operational planning, resource allocation, testing security, assessment administration, scheduling systems, operational reporting, and continuous process improvement. Develops and implements strategies that align testing center services with student, faculty, and institutional needs while supporting the potential growth and expansion of centralized testing services.
Responsible for recruitment, onboarding, training, professional development, and supervision of assigned testing center career staff. Provides direct supervisory oversight of assigned career employees, including hiring, onboarding, assigning and prioritizing work, approving timecards, conducting performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and professional development in accordance with UC Davis policies and applicable labor agreements. Provides managerial oversight of student staffing by establishing staffing strategies, approving workforce plans, and ensuring student employees receive appropriate supervision, training, and operational support.
Establishes operational priorities, monitors departmental performance, and ensures staff are equipped to provide high-quality testing services and operational support. Plans for current and future staffing needs to support the continued growth and operational success of the Testing Center. Advises the AVP-SS on best practices in proctoring, testing center operations, assessment administration, testing security, and related instructional support functions.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in education, higher education administration, business administration, public administration, or a related field, and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience.
- Experience managing administrative, operational, or program functions in a higher education, educational services, testing, student services, or similarly complex environment.
- Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating operational processes, policies, or programs, including the ability to identify issues, recommend solutions, and improve service delivery.
- Demonstrated experience collaborating and building effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and organizational leadership
- Demonstrated experience supervising staff, including hiring, training, assigning work, coaching, conducting performance evaluations, and fostering employee development.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills to interpret data, assess operational needs, develop recommendations, prepare reports, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional correspondence, present information clearly, and explain policies, procedures, and complex information to a variety of audiences. Demonstrated proficiency with business software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and database or information management systems
- Experience managing testing center operations, assessment administration, exam scheduling, proctoring services, or related academic support programs within a higher education environment.
- Experience utilizing testing management, scheduling, learning management, or assessment platforms to coordinate testing operations, analyze data, and generate reports.
- Experience supervising career and student employees in a higher education, testing center, student services, or comparable operational environment. Professional certifications related to testing administration or proctoring are desirable
