Position Description
The Department of African American & African Studies at UC Davis welcomes applications for undergraduate courses in the Winter and Spring quarters of the 2026-27 academic year.
This position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Courses to be filled include:
Winter Quarter 2027
- AAS 17, "Women in African Societies" (4 units)
- AAS 107A, "African Descent Communities & Culture in the Caribbean & Latin America" (4 units)
Spring Quarter 2027
- AAS 18, " Introduction to Caribbean Studies" (4 units)
-Winter Quarter:
January 4, 2027 - March 19, 2027
-Spring Quarter:
March 25, 2027 - June 10, 2027
A Ph.D. is preferred, but we welcome candidates who are ABD, hold an M.A. degree in a related field, and/or who have previous experience teaching at the college/university level.
SalaryThe posted salary range is for a 100% appointment for a Unit 18 Lecturer, which is based on teaching an average of 6 classes per quarter. The average expected appointment for this position may be 42-50% over one quarter. Payment for teaching an individual course is a fraction of this salary range based on the student enrollment of the class.
