The Davis Waldorf School is seeking an experienced, organized and collaborative Student Support Coordinator to begin in the fall for the school year. Working closely with the Student Support Group, Class teachers, parents and administrators, this position plays a vital role in supporting students with diverse learning or emotional/behavioral needs.
The Davis Waldorf School was founded in 1986 and is located on 5 acres north of the city of Davis, surrounded by sweeping green meadows and trails. The campus has 3 preschools, 2 kindergartens and grades 1-8. This position would serve students and families in grades 1-8. DWS is celebrating its 40th birthday and has established itself as one of the premier independent schools in the region, and is accredited by AWSNA.
The ideal candidate has experience in Waldorf education and is familiar with its principles. They have experience in coordinator roles and in supporting students with IEPs, MEPs and other learning specific strategies. They can also work out of Kim John Payne’s Three Streams Framework. This candidate ideally has experience working with school districts, parents, and can facilitate difficult but important conversations and meetings.

Classification: hourly
Responsibilities include:
- Chair of Student Support Group (SSG), making weekly agendas, collaborating with Class Teachers and scheduling and facilitating Student Support Circles.
- Documentation management, including students with IEPs, MEPs or enrolled in SSG.
- Facilitates on campus tutoring and scheduling.
- Coordination with other support specialists and staff members.
- Maintaining clear and orderly communication and records.

- Ability to facilitate and resolve conflict
- Flexibility, sense of humor, warmth of soul and spirit
- Physical, mental, and emotional stamina
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with challenging situations and individuals
Qualifications include:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution
- Prior experience working with a group of children
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification or the ability to be certified before beginning work
Preference for:
- Waldorf Teacher Training Certificate
- Training with using Kim John Payne student support methodology
- Previous teaching experience in a Waldorf setting
- Master’s degree or additional specialized certification, such as remedial training or spatial dynamics
Skills include:
- Ability to work collaboratively and engage well in a consensus form of decision-making
- Experience successfully managing and working with children in a group setting
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including accurate composition of documents
- Knowledge of Google Drive and Google Applications
- Proven ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment
Preference for:
- Familiarity with principles of Non Violent Communication (NVC)
- Experience with Kim John Payne’s Social Inclusion Model
- Holds a special education credential
