Position descriptionThe Department of African American & African Studies at UC Davis welcomes applications for undergraduate courses in the Fall and Winter quarters of the 2026-27 academic year. Applicants may apply to teach one or more courses.

- Course description:
Black female social, intellectual, and psychological development. Black women's contributions in history, literature, and social science; life experiences of Black women and philosophical underpinnings of the feminist movement.

2. AAS 083 "Black Food Politics"
- Winter Quarter 2027:
January 4, 2027 - March 19, 2027 - 4 units
- Scheduled for TR 2:10-4:00PM
- Enrollment cap: 65 students
- Course description:
Critical examination of the histories and politics of Black food traditions in the United States.
- Winter Quarter 2027:
A Ph.D. is preferred, but we welcome candidates who are ABD, hold an M.A. degree in a related field, and/or who have previous experience teaching at the college/university level.
SalaryThe posted salary range is for a 100% appointment for a Unit 18 Lecturer, which is based on teaching an average of 6 classes per quarter. The average expected appointment for this position may be 42-50% over one quarter. Payment for teaching an individual course is a fraction of this salary range based on the student enrollment of the class.
