Mabie-Apallas Public Interest Endowed Chair; Internal to School of Law

The holder of the Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Endowed Chair will be a senior faculty member, Professor of Law, Step 6 or above in the School of Law whose distinguished scholarship is nationally recognized, whose specialty is in the area of public interest, and who is willing to contribute to the development of Public Interest law and foster government and public interest careers for graduates of the School of Law.

The term of the Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Endowed Chair is for five years, with the option of reappointment per regularly established University procedures for endowed chair/professorship appointments (APM 191, UCD 191).

The endowment pay out will support the chair's efforts in research, teaching and service and further the mission of the School of Law and the campus.

It is expected that the holder of the endowed chair will advance at least normally through the faculty ranks on the basis of his scholarly activities, teaching, University and public service, and advancement of diversity and equal access.

In addition, the holder of the Endowed Chair is expected to:

• Engage in teaching and scholarly activities focused in the area of Public Interest.
• Ordinarily teach a full load in the School of Law.
• Conduct research in the holder's area of specialization and perform service to the School of Law and the broader community in which it is situated.
• Provide leadership in the area of Public Interest and be fully engaged in activities in the School of Law.
• Enhance the academic and intellectual life of the campus as a whole.

Tenured faculty member at Professor of Law, Step 6 or above, in the UC Davis School of Law.
