Professional who has a general understanding of contract and grant administration theory and puts it into practice, performs a full range of responsibilities within the functions of contract and grant administration under the supervision of a team supervisor; possesses knowledge of accounting, analyzes problems and identifies and implements solutions. Uses accounting and financial concepts with an understanding of accounting practices and campus policies and procedures to complete assignments requiring analysis of data and review of a variety of factors and documents.
Exercises judgment in a timely manner to identify appropriate action, which will be discussed with the supervisor. Has internal contact on regular basis and external contact on a limited basis. Under the direction of a supervisor, responsible for the fiscal control, accounting and reporting of moderate level contracts and grants awarded in support of UC Davis research, training and public service programs.
Attend training workshops for present and future career development. Participate in staff meetings. Work on special projects that are relevant to contracts and grants management. Supervisor will assign other activities to provide exposure to more difficult contracts and grants.

Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; 3-4 years of experience in a business or finance position (including financial research administration).
- Experience applying general financial administration principles and accounting principles, as they relate to contract and grant administration.
- Experience with spreadsheet software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports, email, word processing and other common business applications.
- Experience performing moderate level financial analysis and customized reporting.
- Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate, both in person and in writing.
- Organizational skills to determine workload priorities and set timetables to meet deadlines, goals and objectives. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a busy, high-volume, and deadline-driven work environment that requires coordination of multiple activities.
- Basic knowledge of pertinent sponsor regulations including 0MB Guidance, the NSF and NIH/PHS Grants Policy Statements, Federal Acquisition Regulation, application of indirect cost rates, and other general concepts in research administration.
