Position Overview

Salary range: $202,200 – $338,300. Off‑scale salaries and other components of pay are offered when necessary to meet competitive conditions, qualifications, and experience.

Davis, CA.

Responsibilities
  • Administration:
    Serve as Director of the Karen

    C. Drayer Wildlife Health Center (WHC), overseeing multiple programs and projects. Approx. 25% time commitment, 5‑year renewable appointment. (More details at )
  • Teaching:
    Lead and participate in lectures, laboratories, externship and residency programs within the DVM curriculum, and contribute to graduate programs (MS, PhD, MPVM).
  • Research:
    Develop an applied, conservation‑oriented research program in wildlife health, publish results, and guide student research projects.
  • Service:
    Engage in university and public service through committee work, professional organizations, and continuing education.
  • Professional Competence:
    Advance the discipline of free‑ranging wildlife health locally, nationally, and internationally, establishing a reputation for excellence.
Qualifications
  • Basic:
    Veterinarian with expertise in free‑ranging wildlife population health and conservation; demonstrated aptitude and experience leading national/international wildlife health non‑governmental organizations, fiscal management, and strategic planning; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; teaching and mentoring experience in didactic and field settings.
  • Preferred:
    Advanced degree (MS and/or PhD); board certification in the American College of Zoological Medicine (ACZM) or American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine (ACVPM); established programmatic management and research focus in wildlife health.
