This position is for one year, with the possibility of renewal pending funding availability. The successful candidate will be responsible for the generation as well as the molecular, biochemical, and physiological characterization of CRISPR/Cas9-edited wheat plants.
They will also analyze the expression of candidate genes involved in biochemical and physiological processes in tissues of tree crops collected from field experiments.
The successful candidate will have completed an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Plant Sciences, Plant Biology, Genetics, or a related field, with demonstrated experience working with plants in the laboratory, growth chamber, greenhouse, and field settings. They will work closely with the Principal Investigator and other lab members, actively participating in research, analyzing data, engaging in research discussions, and contributing to the preparation of research results for publications and presentations;
these will be accomplished by preparing data figures and tables as well as reviewing drafts of reports and manuscripts. The Junior Specialist will also provide support for student training and help maintain laboratory organization and safety. In addition, the candidate is required to hold valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program as the Jr.
