The Department of Anatomy, Physiology & Cell Biology at the University of California, Davis, invites applicants for a qualified Junior Specialist.

Responsibilities
  • Research (90%)
    • The candidate will help to design and perform studies under the direction of the PI and PhD Student’s supervision.
    • The candidate will plan and execute experiments involving tissue culture stimulation of CD4 T cells with a bacterial expression library. Optimization and troubleshooting of this assay will be the primary focus of the laboratory work and will include flow cytometry, cell culture, bacterial culture inoculation, cytokine ELISAs and bioinformatic generation of expression vectors under supervision.
    • They will collect and help summarize laboratory data and will assist in data analyses as appropriate.
    • They will contribute to scholarly scientific manuscripts from the laboratory by writing materials and methods sections, creating tables and figures for presentation.
    • The candidate will be involved in animal use protocol reporting and compliance and writing laboratory protocols and SOPs.
    • The candidate will help to train undergraduate and rotation students as appropriate.
    • Other responsibilities include assistance with lab management and coordination of supplies needed for the successful day-to-day running of the lab (e.g., ordering supplies and maintaining the labs).
  • Professional Competence (5%) The candidate will have opportunities to participate in local and regional meetings and attend seminars as appropriate
  • University and Public Service (5%) The Junior Specialist will mentor undergraduate lab assistants working in the lab, and participate to laboratory, departmental and group meetings, and other activities as applicable.
