The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine is actively recruiting up to two full-time faculty members at the Assistant Professor rank in the Ladder or combined Ladder/in-Residence Professor series who are committed to building and maintaining an excellent, diverse, and inclusive faculty, staff, and student body.
The Department is distinguished by dual strengths in biochemistry and genomics, and we are seeking a candidate(s) whose research program synergizes with these strengths and advances our core interests, including but not limited to cancer biology, neuroscience, and metabolism.
We are especially interested in candidates who apply new and emerging experimental and computational technologies to mechanistic questions in molecular medicine related to human health.
The successful candidate’s research program is expected to complement additional campus strengths, including translational research, and to forge strong connections with UC Davis’s premier research centers and institutes, including the:
- NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center
- MIND Institute
- Alzheimer’s Disease Center
- Center for Neuroscience
- Genome Center
- Center for Brain and Mind
These connections provide access to shared genomics, imaging, experimental, and computational infrastructure and create wide-ranging opportunities for team-based, multi-investigator, and program-level research.
The successful candidate is expected to build and maintain a high-quality extramurally funded research program, achieve excellence in teaching undergraduate, graduate, and/or medical students, provide service to the University community appropriate to their career stage, and contribute to a collegial and collaborative academic environment.

- PhD and/or MD degree (or equivalent)
- At least two years of postdoctoral research experience
- An outstanding record of research creativity and productivity
- Demonstrated potential to establish and lead an independent research program
- A strong commitment to collegiality and collaborative research
- Effective written and oral communication skills and demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching
