Spork Food Hub supplies fresh local produce to dozens of school districts, universities, food security programs, hospitals, and other institutions. We work with over 120 (and counting!) local family farms to provide nutrient-dense and sustainable produce to customers. We also offer pre-cut and processed seasonal items. Spork Food Hub exists to improve access to local food for those who need it most.
By partnering with local farms and directing the produce to local nutrition programs we are making a difference by keeping these foods and dollars in our communities.
Spork Food Hub is the culmination of Fiery Ginger Farm’s work in farming, education, community engagement and advocacy. We strive to contribute to a more equitable and sustainable food system that supports well being, economic empowerment and community vitality for future generations.
Job DescriptionSpork food hub exists to create access to food to those who need it most while opening up new markets for farmers. Our main customers are school districts, state prisons, food banks, community distribution programs and prison medical facilities. Our new sales position would strengthen relationships with our existing food bank, prison and distribution programs while actively seeking new school customers.

- Detail oriented – our prison accounts require detailed bid packages each month
- Have a willingness to learn new things
- Excellent customer service skills
- Working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets
- Be able to travel to customers; experience with public speaking and be comfortable speaking to groups
- Knowledge of produce, uses, and seasonality a plus
- Experience working with institutional nutrition programs or schools
- Learn to complete prison bid packets
- Build relationships with prison nutrition staff to determine needs
- Travel to customer to crop plan or discuss needs
- Work with our procurement director and general manger to determine pricing and volumes available for prisons, communicate monthly delivery schedules to prison staff
- Take weekly orders from food banks and distribution programs, and new school customers
- Learn our Local Food Market place software
- Work with our general manager to identify new school/institutional customers and build relationships
- Make weekly sales calls
- 5 paid days of vacation after one year, 10 days after two years and six paid sick days at the time of hire
