The veterinary assistant will assist in all aspects of clinic function including patient care, clinical tasks, hospital maintenance, record keeping and client communications.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program
  • No minimum education required
  • Background or strong interest in veterinary social work, One Health, and Access to Care models, with a commitment to improving health equity and community well-being.
  • Experience engaging with underserved and vulnerable populations.
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, and working with undergraduate and professional students, providing guidance, support, and educational engagement in academic or community settings.
  • Strong multitasking and time management skills, with the ability to manage several tasks simultaneously, coordinate logistics, prioritize responsibilities, and effectively balance competing demands during clinic events, meetings, and daily operations.
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills, enabling effective interaction in client-facing roles, collaboration with staff, and service as a liaison between clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Exceptional attention to detail in the preparation and execution of clinic-related tasks, ensuring accuracy, organization, and the smooth operation of programs, events, and services.
  • Adaptable, collaborative, and solution-oriented professional with the flexibility to adjust to changing schedules, needs, and fast-paced environments; works effectively as part of a team, follows direction, takes initiative when needed, and responds calmly and effectively to unexpected challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Experience in customer service and client-facing roles, particularly in healthcare, veterinary, or community service settings, with excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively support clients and stakeholders.
  • Experience working in diverse and underserved communities, with the ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish strongly preferred to provide culturally responsive services and support Spanish-speaking clients.
  • Experience working in veterinary clinical environments, especially fast-paced settings such as emergency veterinary clinics, along with a basic understanding of clinic and event logistics, including setup, registration, coordination, and operational support.
  • Strong collaboration, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills, with experience working effectively as part of a team, following supervisory guidance, adapting to fast-paced environments, and contributing to community health initiatives and One Health-focused programs.
  • Combined with bilingual Spanish-language proficiency to support effective communication and culturally responsive outreach.
