The Ash Group is hiring a Sr Payroll Tax Specialist (24450) for our client, a pioneering technology company providing hardware, software, and services that transform and improve productivity across industries. This is a 5-month contract working in Dayton, OH (Onsite) and offering a pay rate up to $47 per hour based on location and skillset.
- Compensation:
Up to $47/hr W2 based on location - Benefits:

Senior Payroll Tax Specialist responsible for managing multi‑state and international payroll tax compliance, filings, and reconciliation. Drives accuracy, resolves complex tax issues, and implements system improvements to enhance efficiency.
Key Responsibilities- Process payroll and tax compliance for multiple states and countries
- Oversee tax filings, ensuring timely submission of federal, state, and local returns
- Reconcile payroll general ledger and tax liability accounts monthly, quarterly, and annually
- Resolve agency notices and penalties promptly
- Research tax legislation changes and implement updates to payroll systems
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure accurate processing
- Maintain audit documentation to support internal and external audits
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting, or Associate’s with 5+ years payroll tax experience
- CPP or FPC certification preferred
- Proficiency with ADP, Smart Compliance, WF N, and Workday payroll systems
- Deep knowledge of multi‑state and international payroll tax compliance and reconciliation
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to resolve complex tax issues and agency notices
- Experience updating payroll software and documenting SOPs
