Position: Payroll Specialist (Workday)

Payroll Specialist

Experienced Payroll Specialist 3+ years of experience required. Must have Workday experience. Working knowledge of payroll best practices. Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll rules and regulations. Strong PC skills including experience with Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word. Able to perform payroll duties using Jamis and Humanic systems (training provided). Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

High degree of professionalism. Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material. Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills. Ability to communicate with various levels of management. Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines. Bachelor's preferred.

DUTIES:

  • Perform payroll department duties for parent company and subsidiary companies in multiple states.
  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
  • Verify timekeeping entries and communicate to employees and/or supervisors to resolve any issues.
  • Assist in the processing of semimonthly labor batches and PTO accruals.
  • Assist in the processing of in-house semimonthly payrolls.
  • Understand proper taxation of employer paid benefits.
  • Enter and maintain employee tax forms and direct deposit information.
  • Assists with processing payroll taxes, including federal, state, local, as well as garnishments and enter payments into Jamis.
  • Responds to payroll inquiries and concerns from employees in a timely manner.
  • Participates with year-end reporting when necessary (W-2s, W-3s, etc.).
  • Assists with collecting requested information for tax agencies, as well as our external accounting firm for annual audit.
  • Reviews and files all external mail correspondence pertaining to payroll.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Collaborate with others in the accounting department to ensure all financial actions are accurate.
  • Assists with other special payroll projects as needed.
