We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our growing organization. This position plays a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting strategic decision-making, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The ideal candidate is a proactive professional who enjoys working independently while collaborating with leadership and other departments.
Position SummaryThe Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting functions, preparing financial reports, assisting with budgeting and audits, and supporting the organization's overall financial health.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank accounts.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related accounting functions.
- Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
- Assist with annual audits.
- Monitor cash flow and support budget preparation and forecasting.
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal controls.
- Prepare financial reports and presentations for management and the Board of Directors.
- Support grant reporting as applicable.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Proficiency with SAGE accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Nonprofit accounting experience.
- Audit preparation and coordination.
- Budget development and financial analysis.
