Position Summary

The Grant Writer & Development Coordinator for Omega CDC is an integral member of the Development Team. This position oversees all administrative processes in place to manage the organization's fundholder relationships. The Grant Writer & Development Coordinator writes grant applications for Omega CDC and RISE Northwest; coordinates work on multi-party grant applications; tracks and submits required reporting for grants and donations;

conducts research on potential donors and granting organizations; coordinates development events and programs; participates in donor meetings as requested; and assists with scheduling donor meetings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Write, proofread, edit and send correspondence, including but not limited to:
    Fund agreements, addendums, grants and grant reports, donor letters and gift proposals ensuring correspondence and filings are timely and maximizing grant success to meet annual fundraising goals. (50%)
  • Assist with special events planning (primarily the annual gala), preparation and execution and processing of online RSVPs. Coordinate with and manage external event planning consultant, if utilized. Assist with leading a well-executed event to meet set sponsorship and fundraising goals. (20%)
  • Coordinate the following duties for the Development Department: tracking and filing required grant/donation reports, scheduling meetings, calendar and contacts maintenance, meeting preparation and follow-up among additional responsibilities to support maintaining good relations with donors. (10%)
  • Research potential prospects (individual donors and grant making organizations) and add information to constituent databases, e.g. personal information and meeting notes to assist with expanding the donor base. (5%)
  • Work with the Finance Department to reconcile fundraising records and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Work with Executive Administrative Assistant to the CEO to regularly manage updates to constituent database and constant contact mailing lists to ensure all contacts are properly moved through development process and coded appropriately.
  • Achieve proficiency in Salesforce for development functions.
  • Compile and create folders, agendas, minutes and marketing materials for Development Committee meetings ensuring all members are well informed.
  • Work closely with the Executive Administrative Assistant to ensure the gift acknowledgement process is followed and assist as needed.
  • Respond to donor calls and questions including online giving issues.
  • Monitor local media outlets for news and information on philanthropic trends, foundation fund holders and prospects.
  • Other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
  • Bachelor's degree required with minimum of 1-3 years of experience in an area related to development and fundraising.
  • Exceptional skills in the areas of organization, attention to detail, time management, ability to manage multiple tasks, define and set priorities and problem solve.
  • Excellent customer service abilities
  • Excellent reading, writing and grammar skills. Both written and verbal.
  • Excellent skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, working with Salesforce Database and working with databases and internet research.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and motivation when working independently with donors, data entry, and

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment setting.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and answering the phone.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
