Overview:
The Junior Business Operations Specialist will provide administrative, acquisition, logistics, and business operations support to Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) operational and technical teams at Wright-Patterson AFB. This position plays an important role in keeping mission-critical programs moving by supporting purchasing and acquisition activities, tracking requirements and deadlines, managing organizational data, and coordinating documentation across technical and operational teams. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career supporting Department of Defense programs while gaining hands-on experience with Air Force acquisition, business operations, technology transfer, and program support.

Responsibilities

& Duties
  • Prepare correspondence, briefings, reports, and program documentation in accordance with Air Force standards and established deadlines.
  • Develop and process purchasing and acquisition packages, including Purchase Requests, Contractor Supply Request Documents, Justifications and Approvals, and Bills of Materials.
  • Support acquisition activities in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS), and applicable local policies.
  • Submit Requests for Quotation through Government purchasing platforms, including GSA 2

    GIT and NASA SEWP.
  • Track acquisition activities, purchasing requirements, critical deadlines, risks, and future procurement needs.
  • Support Technology Transfer and Scientific and Technical Information (STINFO) activities, including preparation and processing of transfer agreements and R&D case files.
  • Coordinate documentation with the Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC), Legal, and other Government stakeholders.
  • Support export-control documentation and industry-partner requirements.
  • Manage administrative workflows, task assignments, status updates, organizational charts, Integrated Product Team manning documents, and deficiency trackers.
  • Route travel authorizations through the Defense Travel System (DTS) and support other travel-related administrative requirements.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets, databases, trackers, reports, and specialized data products supporting program operations.
  • Provide responsive administrative and system support to Government personnel and program stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure assigned actions are completed within established Government suspense dates.
Qualifications
  • Meets applicable GSA OASIS+ Junior labor-category education and experience requirements for the position.
  • U.S. citizenship required; permanent residency does not meet program requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the security clearance required for the position.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Word, Excel, One Note, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Experience with Adobe Acrobat and the ability to troubleshoot basic software and administrative-system issues.
  • Ability to learn and independently perform required reporting and data entry within Government business systems.
  • Ability to obtain Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Associate certification within 180 days of starting the position.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments, deadlines, and competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accurate documentation and data management.
  • Ability to work professionally and collaboratively with Government personnel, technical teams, leadership, and other stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business, Business Administration, Management, Finance, or a related field.
  • Previous Department of Defense or U.S. Air Force experience.
  • Experience supporting Government acquisition, procurement, administrative, financial, or program operations.
  • Familiarity with Government acquisition and purchasing processes.
  • Experience with GSA 2
