IntroductionWe are hiring a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to support the construction of a new 41,000 SF Child Development Center at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH.
The SSHO will provide daily onsite oversight, enforce safety standards, conduct inspections, and coordinate permits, paperwork, and field audits while supporting safe execution of structural and general construction activities.
CompensationRate: $50–$52/hour (based on experience)

50–55 hours/week
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, Saturdays as needed
This assignment supports the construction of a new single-story Child Development Center (41,000 SF) involving:
- Structural steel erection and framing
- Metal roofing and brick wall installation
- Coordination and oversight of multiple trades on site
- Paperwork, permitting, and compliance documentation for the GC
- Routine safety audits, field inspections, and hazard mitigation
- Conducting daily safety walks, hazard recognition, and site audits
- Leading toolbox talks, orientations, and employee safety training
- Completing daily safety reports, incident investigations, and regulatory documentation
- Enforcing EM 385-1-1, OSHA 1926 Construction standards, and Air Force project safety requirements
- Supporting the project team with permitting, SSHP implementation, and compliance documentation
- Coordinating with subcontractors to ensure adherence to safety protocols
- OSHA 510 (required, minimum)
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training
- Current First Aid/CPR certification
- EM 385-1-1 knowledge and application
- Minimum 5 years of construction safety experience or equivalent education/experience combination
- Competency in:
Fall Protection, Hazard Communication, Confined Space, Excavation Safety, Electrical Safety (NFPA 70E), PPE, and Accident Investigation
- OSHA 500 (Trainer Authorization)
- CHST or CSP designation
- Competent Person training in excavation, scaffolding, and fall protection
- Experience as SSHO on federal, USACE, or Air Force projects
Strong working knowledge of EM 385-1-1 and OSHA 1926 Construction standards with emphasis on:
- Structural steel and general construction safety
- Confined space entry and excavation safety
- Electrical safety and NFPA 70E requirements
- Hazard communication and PPE programs
- Federal contract safety documentation, reporting, and compliance
