Join a contractor supporting a long-term federal construction project in Dayton, OH. This role offers the opportunity to serve as the project's Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO), overseeing safety activities involving excavation, underground utilities, heavy equipment operations, public protection, and contractor compliance with federal construction safety requirements.

This position is ideal for a safety professional with experience on civil infrastructure or federal construction projects who enjoys maintaining a strong field presence while ensuring safe execution of high-risk construction activities.

• OSHA 30 Construction Certification
• 5+ years of construction safety experience
• Experience supporting excavation and underground utility construction
• Experience conducting site inspections, audits, and compliance monitoring
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and contractor safety management
• Ability to work in an active civil construction environment

• Previous SSHO experience
• EM 385-1-1 experience
• USACE or other federal construction project experience
• Competent Person - Excavation & Trenching
• CHST, ASP, CSP, or other BCSP credential

• Oversee daily safety activities for civil construction operations
• Conduct routine site inspections, audits, and risk assessments
• Monitor excavation, trenching, and underground utility activities
• Support heavy equipment operations and material handling activities
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, project safety requirements, and federal construction standards
• Lead incident investigations and corrective action implementation
• Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), excavation permits, and pre-task plans
• Maintain safety documentation, reports, and compliance records
• Coordinate public protection measures and work zone safety
• Partner with project supervision to proactively identify and mitigate hazards
• Promote a positive safety culture across the project
