The Hydaker-Wheatlake Company is looking to a hire a full-time Estimator II to join our growing team!

- Analyze project specifications, blueprints, and other documentation to understand the scope and requirements of utility construction projects.
- Conduct site visits to gather relevant data and assess project conditions.
- Utilize estimating software and industry knowledge to ensure precision in cost calculations.
- Prepare comprehensive bids and proposals in response to RFP's (Request for Proposals) and other tender documents.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing.
- Work closely with project managers and superintendents to ensure that cost estimates align with budgetary constraints.
- Collaborate on value engineering and cost-saving measures without compromising project quality.
- Identify potential risks and uncertainties in project estimates and propose mitigation strategies.
- Evaluate contractual terms and conditions to ensure alignment with company standards.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to clarify project requirements and resolve inquiries.
- Maintain accurate and organized documentation of all estimating activities.
- Stay informed about industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and advancements in construction technology.
- Education:
Bachelor's degree in:
Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering or have related field equivalent experience (Journeyman Lineman, Journeyman Substation Tech, etc). - Proven experience as an Estimator in the utility construction industry.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software (Oman, Sage, excel spreadsheets)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (MS Project, Excel, Word, etc) and or Primavera P6
- Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry best practices.
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
- Adherence to safety standards and regulations.
