WDTN TV-/WBDT-TV, the NBC and CW Affiliates in Dayton, Ohio is searching for a dynamic, engaging LEADER to join the 2 News Anchor team. We’re looking for someone who will bring high energy, a positive attitude, and personality to the anchor desk every day. The ideal candidate is a seasoned journalist and strong storyteller who pitches and turns high-impact, people-driven stories for all day parts and platforms.
He or she will use their experience to work alongside the management team to mentor and coach one another. 2 News is a leader in the community, and our anchor team regularly engages with viewers at community events year-round.
- Presents news stories and other content for all platforms
- Ensures that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality
- Writes and delivers news stories in a clear and concise manner
- Assists in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating news programming and other content
- Conducts interviews with news personnel and external entities
- Responds to breaking news and other urgent newsrooms situations as required
- Writes content for the website and other platforms
- Posts engaging content and interacts with viewers/users on social media sites
- Participates in promotional activities to include public appearances
- Performs special projects and other duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field
- Minimum five years of experience in news anchoring preferred
- Must possess the ability to interact well with all colleagues
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
- Presents all news without bias or prejudice
- Exceptional on-air presence
- Excellent news judgment with an expansive knowledge of local and national current events, history, news makers, etc.
- Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and multitask simultaneously with execution showcasing your high level of experiences
- Exhibit coaching and leadership skills
- Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Flexibility to work any shift
