SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Executive Principal and Director of Pathways, plan
and implement appropriate teaching and learning strategies for the Construction
Technology pathway. This role focuses on delivering a comprehensive
curriculum-including Construction Technology Core, Carpentry and Masonry, Structural
Systems, and Remodeling/Renovation-to prepare students for high-demand careers in
the building trades.
QUALIFICATIONS
?
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a related academic or technical
subject area is preferred but not required.
? Certification:
Valid Ohio teaching license for high school grades (e.g., 4-12, 7
- 12, or Career-Technical license in Construction) or the ability to obtain.
?
Experience:
Three to five years or more of industry experience in carpentry, masonry, or construction management is preferred.
? Driver Certification:
Ability to obtain Ohio School Van Driver Certification for
transporting students to field trips or CTSO (e.g., Skills
USA) activities.
? Background Check:
Must pass a criminal background check and comply with
drug-free workplace rules.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Instructional Delivery:
Create engaging hands-on lessons aligned with Ohio
Career-Technical content standards for construction core, masonry, and
structural framing.
? Technical Training:
Instruct students in the safe operation of hand and power
tools, blueprint reading, and construction math.
? Trade Skills Development:
Teach procedures for wall/ceiling layout, framing,
sheathing, and introductory concrete applications including formwork and
finishing.
? Advanced Renovation:
Guide students through remodeling processes,
including securing permits, managing subcontractors, and coordinating building
inspections.
? Safety & Compliance:
Implement and enforce 10-hour OSHA safety standards,
site safety protocols, and applicable building codes for all projects.
? Employability Integration:
Develop 21st-century skills including professional
networking, resume writing, and business management within the construction
industry.
? Student Assessment:
Analyze student data from formative and summative
assessments to differentiate instruction and ensure mastery of technical
competencies.
CORE COMPETENCIES
? Structural Integrity:
Mastery of techniques for layout and framing of walls,
ceilings, roofs, and wood/steel stairs.
? Sustainable Practice:
Proficiency in teaching green construction methods and
the selection of sustainable materials.
? Problem Solving:
Ability to teach students to troubleshoot design or logistics
issues and provide effective site solutions.
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES & WORK ENVIRONMENT
? Frequent standing/walking for extended periods in a lab or job-site environment.
? Repetitive motions such as bending, reaching, stretching, and kneeling.
? Ability to lift and/or move items up to 40 lbs.
? Work is performed in a classroom and construction lab setting; subject to strict
timelines for project completion.
