Here at Dayton Job Corps Center, we support their mission by teaching eligible young people the skills they need to become employable and independent, and place them in meaningful jobs or further education. Students here have access to room and board while they learn skills in specific training areas for up to three years.

The program helps them to complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, provides transitional support services, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps graduates either enter the workforce or an apprenticeship, go on to higher education, or join the military.

Summary

The Medical Administration Instructor provides Job Corps‑aligned instruction to prepare students for medical administrative careers while ensuring compliance with academic and program standards.

Essential Functions
  • Oversee and actively participate in hands‑on training sessions to teach front office skills.
  • Develop and collaborate curriculum with department managers for hands‑on training, medical terminology and medical laws/procedures.
  • Instruct basic medical office material needed for CMAA testing.
  • Promote a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom/training environment, ensuring maximum student motivation and outcomes.
  • Integrate math, reading, and writing concepts with employability, and Career Success Standards (CSS).
  • Design instruction to meet individual student needs, maintain a high degree of discipline within the training area, and submit necessary schedule change information.
  • Design curriculum within Job Corps guidelines to ensure students’ needs are met.
  • Schedule field trips, guest speakers, workshops, and other special projects to augment CTT.
  • Develop and implement career technical skills training (CTST) projects.
  • Meet with Academic Instructors to identify required skills that can be taught and reinforced with applying academic skills in a technical setting.
  • Maintain an active Industry Advisory Council.
  • Submit Evaluations of Student Progress (ESPs) in a timely manner and document student progress for inclusion on the ETA‑640 profile.
  • Administer accurate completion of the Training Achievement Records (TAR) in a timely manner.
  • Document student’s progress in case notes at least monthly and record daily attendance.
  • Complete a monthly Accommodation Effectiveness Review for each student with a documented accommodation.
  • Identify and prepare potential students for the Advanced Career Training (ACT) and Advanced (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). students with the center’s ACT process.
  • Ensure that all equipment assigned to the classroom is properly accounted for and maintained in good condition.
  • Participate in the Career Mentoring Team (CMT).
  • Provide support to the Career Development Services System (CDSS) department to ensure student job readiness.

    Requirements Required Education & Experience
    • High school diploma or GED (required); bachelor’s degree (preferred)
    • 2–3 years’ experience in a related field (required); one year of teaching experience (preferred)
    Certifications/Competencies
    • Certified, licensed, or accredited in the state in which the center is located, or accredited by a professional trade organization.
    • For National Training Contractor (NTC), instructor must be certified by union or trade organization, or by national trade certifying organization.
    • CPR certification.
    Minimum Eligibility Qualifications
    • If the position requires driving, a valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record is required.
