Students here have access to room and board while they learn skills in specific training areas for up to three years.
The program helps them to complete their high school education, trains them for meaningful careers, provides transitional support services, and assists them with obtaining employment. Job Corps graduates either enter the workforce or an apprenticeship, go on to higher education, or join the military.
Reports to the Social Development Director. Responsible for the development, management, and operation of standards and work support, which includes behavioral management, behavior review panel, fact-finding boards, peer discipline, student incentives program, and student legal services, in compliance with government and management directives.
Essential Functions- Plan, coordinate, and supervise the programmatic activities of student personnel.
- Lead the SPO department in overseeing student conduct, behavior, discipline, and incentives; provide supervision, training, and guidance to SPO personnel.
- Resolve complaints of alleged violations of center standards by students. Oversee review boards, conduct meetings, fact‑finding boards, and hearings while adhering to due process requirements and complying with the PRH.
- Determine and administer disciplinary action for students.
- Report all serious/critical incidents in accordance with established guidelines and requirements; prepare significant incident reports for the CD.
- Provide feedback to staff on results of disciplinary actions administered to students.
- Conduct orientation and training on disciplinary system for staff and students. Reinforce the importance of behavior management and Career Success Standards (CSS) by conducting one‑on‑one interviews with new enrollees and discussing any concerns.
- Administer the incentives program to recognize and reward positive behavior or gains in career pathways, in compliance with the PRH.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of peer leadership programs, collaborating with other departments when necessary. Inspire students to become peer leaders who are actively involved in the operation and standards of the center.
- Collaborate with safety and security teams to uphold and monitor standards of conduct and center safety. Also collaborate with staff from residential living, health and wellness, counseling, risk management, recreation, and other departments.
- Confers with parents and center personnel and counsels students concerning problems relating to student actions on and off center.
- Maintain accurate case notes in the Center Information System (CIS) for each student served.
- Evaluate center culture, identify best practices and behavior trends, and recommend changes that influence the center culture.
- Enforce and publicize Zero Tolerance Policy and anti‑bullying measures.
- Ensure all departmental administrative functions are accurate and accomplished in a timely manner.
- Model, mentor, and monitor the positive normative culture of the center.
- Act as a responsible custodian for assigned center property.
- Report violations of ethical behavior.
- Suggest opportunities for continuous operational improvement and reduction of waste.
