What You'll Do:
* Provide orientation and mobility (O&M) services aligned with IEP goals to promote student independence and participation in educational programs.
* Conduct activity/environmental analyses to identify barriers limiting student access and participation.
* Develop measurable, attainable, and relevant goals and objectives with benchmarks for students.
* Teach travel skills, orientation strategies, and mobility techniques to students with visual impairments.
* Provide training in the use of mobility devices, including canes, and teach transportation and navigation skills.
* Collaborate with teachers, families, and staff to explain O&M services and support educational integration.
* Implement positive behavioral interventions and supports, teaching functional skills (communication, self-regulation, socialization, independence).
* Maintain accurate records, submit timely documentation, and comply with district and MSP reporting requirements.
What You'll Bring:
* Ohio State Board of Education Pupil Services license as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist.
* National ACVREP Certification (or documentation of completion).
* Knowledge of O&M strategies, assistive devices, and educational best practices for students with visual impairments.
* Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
* Commitment to high-performance standards and maintaining confidentiality.
* Satisfactory fingerprinting and criminal records check results (provided for free by MCESC!).
