SME Instructor (26-16 USAFSAM/EDES)
The 711th Human Performance Wing (711 HPW), headquartered at Wright‑Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio, is the first human‑centric warfare wing to consolidate human performance research, education and consultation under a single organization. The role supports the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine and the Human Systems Integration Directorate by providing professional instruction and curriculum development.
Qualifications- Associate’s degree in education or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience and/or educational support experience in a formal education program.
- Experience as a qualified Department of Defense instructor or the ability to attain qualification (Basic Instructor Course and formal internship).
- Proficiency with Office 365 tools (MS Windows, MS Access, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Publisher, MS Teams, MS Planner, MS Power BI, Microsoft Forms).
- Company must possess a Non‑Disclosure Agreement in place and provide a copy to the Program Manager.
- Experience in Air Force Medical Service leadership at the flight level or higher and/or clinical experience.
- Qualified Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) instructor or former CCAF instructor eligible for return qualification.
- Master Instructor certification and/or over 250 teaching hours.
- Knowledge of applicable Air Force, military, and professional standards.
- Collaborate with course directors, other instructors, and Office of the Dean personnel to provide instructional support for multiple courses.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills related to course material delivery and ensure compliance with requirements.
- Maintain course material delivery requirements in an online environment.
- Develop, design, and deliver professional development training as required by government representatives.
- Participate in instructional development processes, including precepting or assisting other instructors.
- Provide education and training professional development for the full spectrum of USAFSAM instructors.
- Collaborate with other instructors or sections on day‑to‑day tasks such as preparing the room, testing equipment, and serving as a student mentor or coach during class sessions.
- Maintain subject‑matter knowledge of course material.
- Attain and maintain instructor qualifications per CCAF, USAFSAM policy, or other accrediting body requirements.
- Comply with all institutional, accrediting, and regulatory agency policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in training and meetings as directed by the course director or government representative.
- Assist with attendance, class roster, completion, and coordination of course graduation activities.
- Assist in development of student resource materials, faculty evaluations, and student and instructor testing.
- Provide academic assistance to struggling students in support of the Academic Excellence Program.
- Assist the curriculum development manager with course development and updates.
- Support the Faculty Development program by reviewing, updating, and maintaining USAFSAM instructor qualifications.
- Demonstrate organizational skills, goal attainment, initiative, and professional interaction at all levels.
- Perform additional education and training mission‑related duties as assigned within the Office of the Dean.
Contractor must graduate from an approved teaching methodology course (Basic Instructor Course) and complete a teaching internship. If these requirements are not yet met, the contractor will be scheduled to attend the next available course. The Basic Instructor Course is a government‑only course covering required qualifications.
