Position Summary
Connect users to the rare and unique materials held in the Marian Library and Special Collections at the University of Dayton Libraries. As Special Collections Access Specialist you will support user services and collection management as part of the Special Collections team. Apply today!
This position will support user services and collection management for the books and printed materials in the Marian Library and Special Collections. They will contribute to daily Marian Library and Special Collections operations with materials, including but not limited to assisting users with basic requests, assessment of book and periodical collections, and providing access to library collections.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's degree
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work independently
- Strong time management skills necessary to work on multiple projects at one time
- Proficiency with Google or Microsoft or similar office tools including spreadsheets, email and calendar
- Excellent written communications skills
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
- Experience working in a library or archives setting
- Experience working with a library management system such as Ex Libris Alma
- College level courses in a field related to strengths of the Special Collections such as English, History, Religious Studies, or Art History
- Excellent oral communication skills
- Customer service experience
- Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds and perspectives
- Ability to solve problems with an attention to detail
- Articulated ability to support the University of Dayton’s commitment to the principles of our Catholic and Marianist mission
