Job SummaryAmerican Sign Language Instructor, Department of Human Services. The successful candidate will teach courses in the American Sign Language (ASL) and Sign Language Interpreting (SLI) programs, advise students in both programs, and engage in service‑related activities, including student recruitment, curriculum development, and participation in program advisory and university committees.
Responsibilities- Teach courses in the ASL and SLI programs – 60% of time.
- Advise students in the ASL and SLI programs – 15% of time.
- Engage in curriculum development, revision, and participation in department, college, and university committees – 25% of time.
- Master's Degree in a related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience teaching post‑secondary American Sign Language courses.
- Master's degree in Interpreting, Deaf Studies, Linguistics, or related area.
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) and/or American Sign Language Teachers Association (ASLTA) certification.
- Five (5) years of experience teaching post‑secondary American Sign Language courses.
- University experience in curriculum development and evaluation.
Academic environment with potential virtual and in‑person teaching as appropriate.
