The salary for this position begins at $58,491.00 and is determined commensurate with education and experience.

Principal AccountabilitiesThe Learning Design Specialist partners with the Assistant Director of Learning Integrations, the AI Excellence Institute, and Learning Design Specialists to design, build, and refine AI-enhanced learning experiences across online, blended, and competency-based courses. This role applies human-centered design, UX best practices, and Sinclair’s AI-informed pedagogical framework to create scalable, accessible, and personalized course elements. You will collaborate closely with the Innovation Lab, the Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL), and eLearning teams to pilot emerging AI tools, deliver targeted workshops, and produce data-driven insights that advance teaching and learning.
- Develop and maintain eLearn content, including proficiency exams, portfolio assessment structure, and other student-facing content in the LMS, integrating Flex Pace, PLA, and other personalized learning tools
- Collaborate with the Innovation Lab and the CTL to create and facilitate an annual schedule of trainings/workshops focused on collaboration and effective use of instructional tools, including introductory and advanced applications of AI in teaching.
- Design and update Flex Pace courses applying principles from the eLearning strategic plan – integrating personalized learning features and AI tools where appropriate.
- Complete course reviews for all newly developed or revised courses, ensuring UX design principles, accessibility standards, and Sinclair’s own AI-informed pedagogical approach are achieved.
- Apply AI, UX, and HCD strategies during course builds and implementations to support improved learner outcomes, and document at least one case study or success story per semester.
- Research and test at least 2 new AI teaching tools each semester, and lead monthly knowledge-sharing sessions with eLearning teams to demonstrate their use and potential impact.

- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree plus specialized coursework or experience in instructional design, UX/LXD, or online teaching and learning required, OR master’s degree in higher education, instructional technology, learning experience design, or related field
- Minimum of three years’ experience in higher education required
- Proficiency with LMS platforms (e.g., D2L Brightspace, Canvas, Blackboard) required
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated experience facilitating workshops and trainings preferred
- Excellent project management, analytical, and communication skills, with a record of data-driven decision making required
- Commitment to equitable access, digital inclusion, and learner-centered design required
