Position SummaryThe Sinclair Design Department is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member and department chairperson to join its Liberal Arts, Communication, and Social Sciences Division beginning Fall 2026. This program empowers creative thinkers to turn imagination into impact. At Sinclair, students explore design through three dynamic pathways:
Visual Communications (Graphic Design/Arts), Digital Media Design (Video Production or Web Design), and Interior Design. This tenure track role typically requires at least a 40-hour work week which includes a course load of 15 credit hours per semester, and a minimum of five office hours per week. In addition to these responsibilities, the instructor will be expected to perform related duties such as serving on department and college committees, coordinating courses, serving as an ambassador for the Design programs, and mentoring adjunct faculty.
Teaching assignments may include day and evening assignments on the Dayton, Centerville, and Mason campuses. Additionally, assignments may include day assignments at area high schools. The position reports to the Dean of Liberal Arts, Communication, and Social Sciences.

In collaboration with colleagues, actively contribute to the continuous review and revision of the department’s curriculum. Must exhibit advanced computer proficiency, alongside the capability and time-management skills required for the effective development and revision of online courses. Implement evaluations according to established standards and use assessment data to continuously improve teaching and learning. - Workplace and Community Service

Contribute to the operation and advancement of the college through committee service and other activities. Extend professional expertise to the community served by the college. - Compliance with the terms and conditions set forth in the Full-Time Faculty Handbook and the Full-Time Employee Handbook

Principal Accountabilities- Provide strategic vision and direction for the department’s curriculum, ensuring programs remain current with industry trends and educational standards.
- Oversee curriculum development, course scheduling, and academic program assessment.
- Lead accreditation processes and maintain relationships with professional design organizations.
- Recruit, hire, and evaluate faculty members, including tenure-track and adjunct instructors. Conduct annual performance reviews, mentor adjunct faculty, and support professional development initiatives.
