With the Emergency Medical Services program, students acquire the skills to become Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) and Paramedics who provide out‑of‑hospital care to the critically ill and injured. EMTs and Paramedics must be capable of functioning with authority and good judgment in a variety of circumstances under difficult and stressful conditions, and must be caring persons with the desire to help others.

The Emergency Medical Services program is currently seeking part‑time (adjunct) faculty to teach face‑to‑face at our downtown Dayton campus. The starting pay for Adjunct Faculty is $1,046 per credit hour assigned to teach.

• Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department
• Plan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learning
• Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
• Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate
• Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students’ needs
• Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
• Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
• Maintain accurate records of student progress
• Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
• Maintain confidentiality of student information
• Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than the maximum of 12 credit hours per semester

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred
• Must be a licensed Ohio Paramedic required
• Must be Ohio licensed Fire and Emergency Services Instructor I or II
• AHA ACLS Instructor preferred
• AHA CPR Instructor preferred
• Must have at least 2 years of paramedic level patient care experience required
• Evidence of successful prior teaching experience is preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work successfully in a community college environment
• Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia‑based instruction
