Physics - Part-Time; Adjunct Faculty

The Sinclair Physics Department provides courses that showcase how physics applies to real‑world contexts and supports students’ career and professional goals. Courses are delivered by distinguished faculty using state‑of‑the‑art facilities and computer‑aided data acquisition.

Starting pay for Adjunct Faculty is $1,046 per credit hour taught. The full list of courses available for teaching can be found in the department’s course catalog.

This position is open only to applicants who reside in Ohio, Indiana, or Kentucky, or who can work within one of these states.

• Teach curriculum developed by the physics department
• Plan and organize instruction to maximize student learning
• Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
• Employ effective teaching strategies and utilize available instructional technology
• Modify instruction to meet the needs of diverse students
• Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
• Evaluate and return student work promptly to promote learning
• Maintain accurate records of student progress
• Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
• Maintain confidentiality of student information
• Adjunct faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than 12 credit hours per semester

• Minimum of a master’s degree in physics or a master’s degree with at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate coursework in the required content area
• Evidence of prior teaching experience preferred
• Demonstrated commitment to enhancing student learning through innovative strategies required
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community required
• Proficiency in modern educational technology, including multimedia‑based instruction, required
• Official transcripts for all post‑secondary degrees and successful completion of a background check will be required prior to hire
