Teacher Of The Visually Impaired
Montgomery County Educational Service Center is seeking a teacher of the visually impaired. This full-time position requires daily travel to client districts. The start date is ASAP, and the salary is commensurate with education and experience.
Develop and deliver lesson plans aligned with state standards, district curriculum, and IEP goals. Assist with student identification, evaluations, parent conferences, IEP development, and periodic reviews. Provide direct instruction in Braille, readiness skills, daily living skills, concept development, and other specialized skills for visually impaired students. Select and implement appropriate reading media (Braille, large print, digital formats). Align teaching strategies with individual learning styles and use evidence-based instructional techniques.
Track student progress using formative and summative assessments; provide timely feedback. Develop and implement activities that support sensory processing and functional independence. Communicate IEP and SDI objectives clearly to families and staff. Participate in team meetings to plan services relevant to student needs. Use positive behavioral interventions to support communication, self-regulation, socialization, and independence.
Required Ohio State Board of Education teaching credentials. Knowledge and experience in instruction for students with visual impairments, including Braille and adaptive strategies. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. Commitment to high-performance standards, professional ethics, and student advocacy. Satisfactory fingerprinting and criminal records check results (provided for free by MCESC!).
