Distinguishing Job Characteristics:
Serves in an educational leadership capacity to develop and manage the year-round educational program at the Montgomery County Juvenile Court School operating across three facilities - Detention Center, Nicholas Residential Treatment Center and The Center for Adolescent Services. This includes managing the day-to-day operations across each of the three facilities and supervising building and special education administrative staff to ensure quality educational programming for all youth.

Responsible for ensuring that the school operates in accordance with standards set forth by the State Board of Education and Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, as well as the educational standards of the American Correctional Association and the Ohio Department of Youth Services. "In this position, you are an At-Will Employee serving at the pleasure of the Administrative Judge."

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed below. Supervises, manages, coaches, trains and evaluates the performance of school and special education administrative staff in accordance with evaluation standards set forth by the State Board of Education.

Implements, supervises and monitors the educational instructional program provided by the teaching staff. Coordinates communication between school staff, treatment program staff, youth specialist supervisors, facility deputy directors, and facility directors. Reviews school-wide assessment data including state and benchmark assessments, coordinates daily bell schedules in conjunction with school building administrators, and ensures student transcripts, grade cards, and IEP progress reports are completed in conjunction with building and special education administrators.

Conducts regular all-staff meetings and regular school administrative meetings. Collaborates with school administrators (with feedback from teaching staff) to develop and progress monitor annual goals and performance objectives. Oversees special education services in conjunction with the Special Education Coordinator. Regularly reviews the internal report card for all three facilities with an eye toward continuous process improvement. Ensures assistant principals develop and monitor school emergency operating plans in concert with facility safety and security staff.

Participates in recruitment of educational staff and school volunteers. Acts a liaison between educational personnel, the Court, school districts of residence, and community school and state agency partners.

Oversees assistant principals' management of federal grants budget and corresponding expenditures for each facility.

Ensures assistant principals coordinate and administer mandatory End of Course Assessments in accordance with Department of Education and Workforce requirements. Completes various reports including the school's quarterly and annual statistical program service report, various routine correspondence reports, letters, memorandums and other documents. Maintains accurate and confidential school records. Maintains budget records and assists with billing statements for school districts in conjunction with the Court's Finance Department.
