The Assistant Director in Fraternity and Sorority Life is a member of the Student Involvement and Leadership team and reports to the Associate Director of Leadership and Community Engagement. This role oversees efforts to enhance and support the Greek community on campus, providing leadership to chapters and serving as the primary advisor, resource person, and support for social fraternities, sororities, and the governing councils for Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL).
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree and at least 3 years of experience in fraternity and sorority life, program management, leadership development, or related fields. (Graduate Assistant experience acceptable.)
- Relevant experience in leadership training, student activities programming, or major event coordination.
- Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and oral/written/presentation skills.
- Willingness to work evening and weekend hours.
- Master's Degree
- Membership in a social Greek organization.
- Experience in student risk management.
- Experience facilitating leadership programs.
- Experience in the assessment of educational outcomes.
- Knowledge of computing and technology for the student affairs area, including web-based applications and desktop publishing.
- Develop plans and goals for new or revised leadership programs, services, policies, and practices that enhance the Greek community and student culture.
- Oversee the development, marketing, implementation, and assessment of the F/S community.
- Serve as advisor to the Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and Greek Engagement Board; develop goals and objectives aligned with the university mission.
- Support chapters in assessing chapter health, developing strategic priorities, and understanding institutional expectations and policies.
- Support and attend FSL functions and campus events to maintain a visible and supportive staff presence.
- Advise and manage the education, assessment, and membership growth of FSL.
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures; support expansion of new fraternities/sororities, including undergraduate, alumni/ae, volunteer, and international organization staff.
- Serve as advisor for Panhellenic Recruitment, including assisting in selection and training of CPH recruitment counselors and developing best practices.
- Advise presidents of each chapter and ensure completion of the Accreditation program for FSL.
- Collaborate with international headquarters to ensure chapters meet and exceed expectations.
- Provide timely and accurate reports concerning incidents or concerns related to FSL.
- Create ongoing methods for engaging campus partners in advising, leadership development, and programming of Greek communities.
- Communicate, interpret, and enforce university policies and expectations to students, advisors, and international headquarters.
- Provide general education, direction, management, and leadership development opportunities to enhance Greek Letter Organizations.
- Develop and cultivate relationships with campus partners and outside organizations to enhance educational and programming opportunities for members.
- Assist students in problem‑solving and respond to challenges or crises; create educational programming on leadership development, alcohol and sexual assault awareness, bystander intervention, and other risk management topics.
- When budget permits, travel with a student delegation to the AFLV Central Annual Conference.
- Maintain and update Banner Admin records and provide reports necessary to assess the FSL community.
- Create semester academic and annual reports of FSL successes, sharing results with stakeholders including advisors, alumni, international headquarters, and university partners.
- Assist in managing accurate FSL membership records, recruitment statistics, housing information, and scholarship reports.
- Coordinate the FSL Accreditation process and awards; revamp award prestige initiatives.
- Hire, supervise, train, and mentor paid student leaders for the Greek Engagement Board.
- Educate students based on core competencies of the Association of Fraternity/Sorority Advisors.
- Encourage participation in AFLV Awards, NPC Awards, and IFC Awards opportunities.
- Work closely with the Associate Director to supervise the Graduate Assistant for FSL and Leadership.
- Support retention and engagement initiatives for the division and university.
- Coordinate First‑Class Leadership Pathway and pilot program with Emerging Leaders in Fraternity & Sorority Life.
