Distinguishing Job Characteristics Provides academic instruction to students enrolled in the Montgomery County Juvenile Court School (MCJC School) serving youth placed in the Center for Adolescent Services (CAS), Nicholas Residential Treatment Center (NRTC), and Detention facilities. Instruction is delivered across a wide range of grade and educational levels from upper elementary through high school in one or more of the following core academic subject areas:
English Language Arts Mathematics Science Social Studies Teachers utilize the Bright Thinker curriculum, Ohio Department of Education standards, and supplemental instructional materials to provide differentiated instruction, facilitate credit attainment, support graduation pathways, and prepare students for successful educational transitions. Instruction is delivered within a secure educational setting and is designed to address the diverse academic, behavioral, and emotional needs of justice involved youth.
In this position, you are an At-Will Employee serving at the pleasure of the Administrative Judge.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed below. • Utilize the Bright Thinker curriculum platform as the primary instructional program for students enrolled in MCJC School.
• Monitor student progress within Bright Thinker and provide interventions to ensure academic success and course completion.
• Assign, evaluate, and document student coursework through Bright Thinker and other approved educational systems.
• Analyze student performance data from Bright Thinker to identify academic needs and develop individualized instructional strategies.
• Integrate teacher led instruction and enrichment activities with Bright Thinker coursework to maximize student engagement and achievement.
Other Duties and Responsibilities Attends various facility events and activities. Meets with individual students in the living unit to assist in schoolwork. Participates in various groups, committees and treatment teams to improve the overall program. Performs other specific job-related duties as directed.

Working Conditions Individual classroom setting within a secure correctional treatment environment. Exposure to potentially violent youth.
