Job Title: Education Associates Level II
Working Days: Monday-Friday 7:25am - 2:40pm
Hours of Work: 6.75 per day following the building schedule and school calendar
Compensation: Commensurate with experience per the OAPSE Local #367 negotiated agreement $16.71 - $23.47
Job Summary:
- Foster positive relationships and personal connections with individual students
- Support student behavior, adaptive and academic needs in accordance with the student's schedule, IEP and learning plans
- Collect and report progress data
- Support students learning in the general education classrooms and other school environments
- Act as a liaison between school, parents and the student to ensure equal access to instruction and activities during the school day
- May include:
Assist students with washing, toileting (may include lifting on and off toilet), diapering, dressing and undressing, grooming and other activities necessary for maintaining personal hygiene and neatness. - May include:
Assist with the transportation of students; position and reposition students requiring the use of medical equipment, wheelchairs, braces, and other orthopedic equipment; make minor adjustments on lifting and other equipment as necessary; assure the safe use and operation of wheelchairs, prosthetic devices and other equipment. - May include:
Assist with the loading and unloading of students on and from buses, automobiles, wheelchairs. - May include:
Toileting students with disabilities and/or providing hygiene assistance - Assure the health and safety of students by following health and safety practices and procedures.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Leadership qualities and personal characteristics necessary for working and collaborating effectively with students, staff, administrators, and parents and families
- Demonstrate effective oral and written communication and organizational skills
- Passage of Para Professional Certificate within 30 days of employment
- Attain an Ohio Educational Aide Permit from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce prior to beginning employment
- Passage of a BCI/FBI Background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience supporting students with disabilities, including familiarity with individualized supports and behavior management strategies.
- Knowledge of basic assistive technology and instructional tools used to support students with disabilities.
- Training or certification in areas such as CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), First Aid/CPR, or other relevant student support practices
