Position Summary

With the Emergency Medical Services program, students acquire the skills tobecome Emergency Medical Technicians ( EMT ) and Paramedics who provide out-of-hospital care to the critically ill and injured.

EMT’s and Paramedics must be capable of functioning with authority and good judgment in a variety of circumstances under difficult and stressful conditions, and must be caring persons with the desire tohelp others.

The Emergency Medical Services program is currently seeking part-time (adjunct) faculty to teach face-to-face at our downtown

Dayton campus. The starting pay for Adjunct Faculty is $1,046 percredit hour assigned to teach.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Adjunct faculty teach curriculum developed by the department
  • Plan and organize instruction in ways which maximize student learning
  • Prepare and provide syllabi for all assigned sections in accordance with department and divisional policies
  • Employ appropriate teaching and learning strategies, use available instructional technology when appropriate
  • Modify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student’s needs
  • Support classroom and online efforts to promote student success
  • Evaluate and return student work in a timely manner to promote learning
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Submit final grade rosters according to established deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of student information
  • Adjunct Faculty cannot be assigned to teach more than the maximum of 12 credit hours per semester
Requirements
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required;associate’s degree preferred
  • Must be a licensed Ohio Paramedic required
  • Must be Ohio licensed Fire and Emergency Services Instructor Ior II
  • AHA ACLS Instructor preferred
  • AHA CPR Instructor preferred
  • Must have at least 2 years of paramedic level patient care experience required
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the courseand program level
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work successfully in a community college environment
  • Must possess demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based instruction
