Position Summary

Jefferson Township Local School District is seeking a dependable, flexible, and student-centered individual to serve as a Part-Time Hourly Support Employee at Blairwood Elementary School.

The successful candidate will provide support to students, teachers, administrators, and building staff to help maintain a safe, welcoming, organized, and positive learning environment. Responsibilities may include student supervision, classroom assistance, clerical support, and other duties based on the daily needs of the elementary school.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide general support to teachers, administrators, and other school staff.
  • Assist with student supervision during arrival, dismissal, lunch, transitions, recess, and other designated times.
  • Support individual students or small groups under the direction of a teacher or administrator.
  • Assist teachers with classroom preparation, organization, materials, and other non-instructional tasks.
  • Provide additional support to students who may need assistance remaining engaged, organized, or appropriately participating in the school environment.
  • Assist with basic clerical duties, including copying, filing, preparing materials, answering phones, and greeting visitors, as assigned.
  • Help maintain a safe, orderly, positive, and welcoming school environment.
  • Reinforce school wide expectations for student behavior and respectful interactions.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding students, staff, and district matters.
  • Communicate concerns regarding student safety, behavior, or well-being promptly to the appropriate staff member or administrator.
  • Provide support during school programs, special activities, assessments, and events as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building administrator or designee.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, staff, and community members.
  • Demonstrated reliability, flexibility, patience, and professionalism.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
  • Successful completion of all required background checks.
  • Must meet all applicable district and state employment requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • A student-centered and supportive approach.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow directions and established school procedures.
  • Ability to respond appropriately to changing needs throughout the school day.

Work Schedule and Compensation

This is a part-time, hourly position. The number of hours and specific work schedule will be determined by the district based on student, building, and operational needs. Work hours may be adjusted as district needs change.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, which may include standing and walking for extended periods, moving throughout the school building, supervising students indoors and outdoors, and lifting or moving classroom materials and supplies.

Terms of Employment

Employment, hourly rate, work schedule, and duration of assignment will be established by the Jefferson Township Local School District Board of Education in accordance with applicable district policies, procedures, and state requirements.
