Position: Avionics Integration Engineer, F-15

Overview

Avionics Integration Engineer – Wright‑Patterson AFB, OH. Full‑time, SECRET clearance, 10‑25% travel. Astrion offers an exciting opportunity for an FMS Avionics Engineer working with the Air Force Division to support the F‑15 program, a leading fighter aircraft platform. Required Qualifications / Skills
  • Advanced knowledge, experience, and recognized ability in the technical/professional field.
  • Ability to perform tasks and oversee the efforts of junior and journeyman contractor personnel within the field.
  • Advanced knowledge of the discipline and a comprehensive understanding of associated standards, procedures, and practices.
  • Independent performance of high‑visibility or mission‑critical aspects of the program.
Education
  • BS and 20 years of experience
  • MS and 10 years of experience
  • ABET‑accredited BS or MS degree in engineering
Preferred Qualifications / Skills
  • Knowledge of avionics engineering for subsystem definition, development, integration, verification, ICD review, sustainment, MS&A, T&E, and airworthiness certification across hardware and software systems.
  • Knowledge of radar theory and principles, and understanding of the radar design, development, and implementation process.
  • Working knowledge of ITAR, foreign disclosure processes, Congressional notification, and RIP/RIS approval process.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, review, and update applicable program documentation for avionics engineering requirements.
  • Assist the Government in drafting and developing systems/subsystem specifications and supporting documents for milestone reviews.
  • Develop and test program hardware and software and integrate into the system architecture; attend technical reviews and provide advice for installation.
  • Review system specific test plans and participate in system, subsystem, and component testing.
  • Perform performance, cost, life‑cycle, producibility, maintainability, supportability, reliability, technical and schedule risk assessments and trade‑off studies.
  • Support hardware/software development and related ground and flight test activities, including hardware‑in‑the‑loop, subsystem integration labs, developmental T&E, and initial operational T&E.
  • Conduct systems analyses, including avionics system design feasibility, state‑of‑the‑art assessment, system capacity analysis, alternative solutions, and architecture trade‑offs.
  • Analyze avionics and subsystems: threat analysis, laser systems, computer systems, interfaces, multiplex data bus communications; identify potential issues or improvement areas.
  • Process data: centroiding, tracker, timing, loading, software interfaces, data merging and integration for combat or automation systems.
  • Perform MS&A of radar, targets, clutter/weather; develop test plans and procedures; witness tests; write test reports for qualification and operational field testing.
  • Support Aircraft Information Management Systems (AIMS) requirements, testing, certification and spectrum management requirements.
  • Define requirements and complete CNS/ATM compliance matrices; support testing and certification of aircraft and supporting systems.
  • Execute radar waveform and signal/data processing techniques for EMI, ECM, multipath, ducting, clutter environments, phase‑array, adaptive array, digital beam‑forming, klystron, solid‑state transmitter technologies, A/D technology, and digital signal processing.
  • Apply aeronautical vehicle systems, software, and avionics capabilities to support core engineering tasks related to EW engineering.
FMS
  • Provide advice on USG policy and technical requirements for individual countries for acquisition programs.
  • Provide FMS expertise for various F‑15 Division programs in DoD acquisition stages, including planning, execution, delivery, sustainment and closure.
  • Monitor, review, analyze and coordinate security assistance issues concerning DoD and non‑DoD agencies, ensuring compliance with policies and legislation.
