Job Summary

The Product Engineer performs standardized assignments involving a sequence of related operations, having substantial variety and complexity, using knowledge of processes, technologies, designs and components for new product launch. This position will support engineering, quality and manufacturing to effectively translate new and current product requirements and processes to the manufacturing floor. Additional responsibility includes identifying, developing and delivering improvement solutions for existing product while maintaining or improving quality standards.

Dynamic position of 70% Current Product Maintenance, 30% New Product Development.

Location

Position is full-time, onsite in our Painesville, Ohio manufacturing facility.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with sales/product management to design and develop new products based on customer specific requirements. Create drawings and communicate with customers to ensure drawing/document approval is achieved.
  • Drive the engineering change process by providing engineering drawings and following the engineering change process through completion.
  • Complete BOMs and Routers for all new parts and revise for current parts as necessary.
  • Ensure complete and efficient new product transfer to production floor by active participation in design reviews and validations in collaboration with process engineers.
  • Actively participate in process/test development to ensure successful new product launch.
  • Actively participate as a team-member transferring products from prototype to production stages.
  • Collaborate with prototype lab to produce prototypes for customer approvals.
  • Drive engineering changes through completion, per the requirements from design/production/quality teams.
  • Assist in design and creation of tooling and fixtures as necessary.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Mechanical or Electrical product development required.
  • Working knowledge of Solidworks required.
  • Experience and demonstrated aptitude in all phases of design, testing and operations of electronics manufacturing a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic machine shop equipment (mills, lathes, etc.) Machine programming experience a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral).
  • Ability to interact professionally with all company functions including Engineering, Quality, Production, and Customer.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, creative, and resourceful.
  • Ability to meet multiple project deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be US Citizen or permanent US resident.
