$90,000–$110,000 | Full-Time | On-Site | Industrial Manufacturing
Custom Equipment Design | Solid Works
A leading designer and manufacturer of custom industrial furnace systems is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Dayton, OH. This is a full‑time, on‑site opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys designing custom, low‑volume, high‑performance equipment in a collaborative and hands‑on environment.
What You’ll Do- Design custom industrial furnaces and related systems from concept to production
- Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawing packages using Solid Works
- Perform mechanical calculations for structural strength, thermal expansion, and stress analysis
- Support fabrication and assembly teams by producing clear, complete technical documentation
- Participate in customer meetings and provide design recommendations
- Troubleshoot design issues and support field installations
- Ensure compliance with safety codes and industry standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, ISO, CE)
- Collaborate across engineering, production, and sales teams to meet project goals
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3–5 years of mechanical design experience (preferably in industrial equipment or low‑volume manufacturing)
- Solid Works proficiency (required)
- Knowledge of mechanical systems: pumps, valves, pneumatics, hydraulics, and structural supports
- Strong problem‑solving and communication skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects at once
- Valid driver’s license and ability to occasionally travel to customer sites
- Experience designing high‑temperature or combustion‑related equipment
- Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, KISSsoft, or similar simulation tools
- Background in industrial automation or robotics integration
- Experience working in a job shop or custom equipment environment
- Competitive Salary: $95,000–$115,000 (based on experience)
