The Energy Performance and Utilities Manager supports the university’s strategic goals for energy efficiency, renewable energy development, and environmental stewardship. Working in close collaboration with the Executive Director of Energy Utilization and Environmental Sustainability, this position oversees campus energy data, analyzes performance trends, and helps implement strategies that improve operational efficiency and support long-term sustainability objectives. You will monitor the day-to-day generation associated with our VPPA.

The role engages the broader campus community—including students, faculty, and staff—to advance sustainable behavior, communicate initiatives, and contribute to the institution’s academic mission through transparency, data‑sharing, and collaboration. This position serves as a key stakeholder in developing and implementing the University Sustainability Strategic Plan.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Facilities Management, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience with energy efficiency/sustainability practices in a residential and commercial setting.
  • Must have a good understanding of Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPA).
  • Experience with energy management, building systems, sustainability programs, or facilities operations.
  • Proficiency with data analysis and energy reporting tools.
  • Familiarity with BAS/BMS platforms such as METASYS.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with a low risk driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Ten years prior experience working in higher education or a large institutional environment.
  • Professional certifications such as CEM (Certified Energy Manager), LEED AP, or similar credentials.
  • Extensive understanding of Virtual Power Purchase Agreements (VPPA).
  • Experience with sub‑metering utilities. (Electric, Gas, water, Steam).
  • Experience with AASHE STARS reporting, or carbon accounting frameworks.
  • Knowledge of HVAC engineering principles and building commissioning practices.
  • Proficient with BAS/BMS platforms such as METASYS.
  • Ability to promote inclusive excellence in the workplace.
