We’re looking for a highly skilled Tools Design Engineer to play a critical role in developing innovative tooling concepts and delivering accurate, competitive cost estimates for metal stamping programs. This position interfaces with engineering, sales, and manufacturing — offering the opportunity to influence projects from initial concept through production launch.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop manufacturable concepts for progressive and transfer stamping dies
  • Create detailed operation line-ups including forming, flanging, piercing, trimming, restriking, and draw operations
  • Evaluate part geometry for manufacturability, complexity, and risk
  • Lead feasibility reviews and guide early-stage tooling decisions
  • Build clear, customer-ready quotations with detailed cost breakdowns
  • Partner closely with Sales to align scope, clarify assumptions, and support customer discussions
  • Help position the company to win profitable new business
💻 CAD & Technical Collaboration
  • Import and interpret customer 3D CAD models and 2D prints
  • Perform blank development, nesting, and material utilization analysis
  • Identify forming risks and cost drivers that impact tooling complexity and lead time
  • Collaborate with toolroom, manufacturing, and process engineering teams to ensure practical, buildable solutions
What You Bring Required Experience
  • 5+ years of metal stamping die design experience
  • Deep understanding of progressive and transfer die construction
  • Hands-on experience developing die line-ups and tooling concepts
  • Strong ability to interpret 3D CAD models and technical drawings
