Responsibilities
The Water Utility Field Operations (WUFO) Administrator assists the WUFO Division Manager with budgeting; developing safety procedures and guidelines; personnel and other managerial assignments. The incumbent directs the Division's daily activities and regulatory compliance in the installation, maintenance and repair of the City's water distribution system as well as the wastewater collection system, ensuring constant and consistent service to customers. Allocates resources and coordinates work schedules through Water Utility Supervisors for execution of all WUFO activities, including but not limited to proper maintenance, testing and installation of all water meters and approximately 5,800 fire hydrants in the City.
Actively searches for newer sewer maintenance and operation technology that can be applied to the division. Develops and implement training programs that will improve operational skills, increase knowledge in sewer maintenance technology, and instruct personnel in proper operation and maintenance of collection and/or conveyance systems. The incumbent ensures all projects are completed in compliance with specifications and standards of the American Water Works Association and the City, as well as applicable federal, state and local rules and regulations.
Responds to emergency calls for assistance from other Water Department divisions and to citizen complaints and requests for service 24 hours a day / 7 days a week. Also responds to after-hours emergency calls, as required. Must act in the capacity as the Division Manager when necessary.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Water Resources Management or a closely related discipline AND 3 years of supervisory and/or administrative experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems or in water, wastewater, wastewater collection and/or sewer maintenance.
- Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources Manage or a closely related discipline AND 5 years of supervisory and/or administrative experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems or in water, wastewater, wastewater collection and/or sewer maintenance.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
AND 10 years of supervisory and/or administrative experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water distribution systems or in water, wastewater, wastewater collection and/or sewer maintenance.
Degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities or equivalent region.
License RequirementsMust possess a valid driver’s license at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
Special RequirementsMust possess both a Class II Ohio EPA Water Distribution System Operator certification and a Class II Ohio EPA Wastewater Collection System certification at time of appointment and maintain thereafter as a term and condition of continued employment.
As a term and condition of employment, within 12 months of appointment incumbent must complete 40 hour Health and Safety training course in accordance with 29 CFR 1910 and undergo annual eight (8) hours of recertification, including physical condition monitoring.
