Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing engineering solutions to a wide range of customer challenges utilizing a variety of advanced manufacturing methods, including additive manufacturing. Tasks include reverse engineering, CAD design, 2D drawing with a focus on application of GD&T, systems engineering, FEA analysis and simulation for selected components/systems. The engineer will also follow all product development process steps, ensure compliance with ISO and AS standards, communicate and collaborate with customers and a multidisciplinary team of manufacturing, operations, testing, quality, materials, and program management members through project completion.
Additional duties include mentoring junior engineers, assisting in process improvement efforts, participating in technical challenges and team support activities. Occasional travel is expected. The role will operate in a highly agile environment and requires a team player who is flexible, adaptive, and detail‑oriented.
- BS degree in mechanical, aerospace engineering or related field
- 8+ years of experience in product development
- 5+ years of experience with Computer Aided Design software, preferably Solid Works
- 5+ years of practical experience in 2D drawing generation, including application of GD&T
- Practical experience reverse‑engineering products/projects
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as casting, forging, extrusion, CNC machining, injection molding, thermoforming, robotics, advanced manufacturing, etc.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to conduct extensive research, catalogue findings during development activities, and write reports for both internal and external use
- Effective interpersonal communication and presentation skills with coworkers and clients at all levels
- Self‑motivation with ability to work with minimal supervision
- Successful collaboration within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent presentation skills
- Experience generating job routers and BOMs for part manufacture
- Due to requirements of our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be a U.S. Citizen
- 15+ years of experience in product development
- 10+ years of experience with Computer Aided Design software, preferably Solid Works
- 10+ years of practical experience in 2D drawing generation, including application of GD&T
- 5+ years of experience performing FEA analysis using ANSYS, including static and dynamic analysis
- Experience with Additive Manufacturing, including print file generation
- Experience with failure analysis, root cause determination and corrective action
- Experience with Model Based Definition generation (Solid Works preferred)
- MS Degree in mechanical, aerospace engineering or related field
- Hands‑on experience conducting reverse engineering
- Experience in ISO certified and/or AS9100 certified facility
- Experience writing or providing cost estimates supporting ROMs and proposals
- Ability to promote inclusive excellence in the workplace
